Chronological Bible Reading Plan

Following this reading plan, you’ll go through the Bible in the order the events occurred chronologically: https://static.esvmedia.org/assets/pdfs/rp.chronological.pdf

The canonical order of books sometimes groups books by type (law, poetry, prophecy, epistles) rather than time. Presenting the events of the Bible in chronological order offers us a different perspective on how they unfolded and helps us better understand cause-and-effect relationships. The chronological approach is especially helpful in the Old Testament, because books like Psalms and prophets are interwoven with historical events.

Note that organizing the Bible in a chronological order cannot be done with absolute certainty. Despite this, a largely coherent chronological framework, like the plan here, where most major events can be placed in correct relative order, is definitely possible and still provides us with valuable insight to the Scriptures.

The reading plan below is intended for members and attendees of GBC Tampere who desire to commit to the same Bible reading plan in 2026.
